Amir Aghayi

Born on October 24th, 1986 in Chadegan, Iran, Amir Aghayi is a dedicated musician, vocalist, and educator with a deep passion for both teaching and performing. He holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching Methodology from the University of Nottingham and has worked as a teacher and teacher trainer at several universities across the United States.
Amir began his musical journey at the age of 7 by learning the santoor, studying under renowned instructors such as Masoud Rezaeinejad, Masoud Ehtemam, Majid Rafiean, and Pejman Ekhtiari. He began learning the Tonbak at the age of 14 and expanded his instrumental skills by studying tonbak with Mr. Mehdi Rafeian, and later added Daf to his repertoire, training under Mr. Hamid Karbasizaadeh.
In addition to his instrumental expertise, Amir began vocal training at the age of 15 and has studied voice intensively for the past three years. His vocal mentors include Philippe Hall, Matt Edwards, Lisa Popeil, Kaya Herstad, Nassim Ahmadi, and Shahabeddin Mortazavi. He has performed as both a singer and a musician in numerous concerts across the U.S.
Amir’s teaching philosophy is built on four core beliefs:
1. Everyone can learn anything
2. True learning comes from understanding, not memorization
3. Learning must be joyful and engaging
4. If a student isn’t learning, it’s the teacher’s responsibility to adapt
Amir brings these principles into every classroom and lesson, aiming to inspire, empower, and educate through music.
